UDUPI DIARIES

Travelling has consistently been a delight for me. Throughout the days I have seen and experienced such countless wondrous encounters while traveling. Traveling brings forth I sort of bliss in me. Travelling has always excited me not only as a teenager but since I was a child and beaches give me the best possible peace, the sound of waves ever so calming. That makes the beaches my go-to place at every chance I get! And the Udupi trip was one of the trips that I will never be able to forget!

Udupi is actually the sort of town I appreciate. It is a waterfront town encompassed by palm trees and delightful beaches. It is likewise known for its famous sanctuaries. Situated in Karnataka, it is around a 9 hours drive from Bangalore. The possibility of sandy seashores and the new ocean breeze persuaded me to get together and head to Udupi to make the most of its laid-back life.

I and my group of friends around 7-9 of us took this trip and it was something that we would never be able to forget unfortunately due to the whole pandemic situation we were unable to take another trip but we are definitely looking forward to doing this very soon again.

TRAVEL TO UDUPI

We decided to take the train to Udupi as it was the most affordable mode of travel but turns out that that was the best mode of travel as we all could sit together and play games and gossip without any disturbances.

We started our journey from the majestic railway station at around 9 pm in the evening and as we passed through we got to see wonderful scenic places and it was just an absolute bliss to the eyes. We reached Udupi at around 9 am in the morning, as we arrived it was hot and we could feel the sun in our bodies and could not contain the excitement of what awaits us in the next few days.

OUR STAY

We were lucky to get a house right next to the beach, we booked our stay via Oyo and the villa was at Kapu Beach. It was just so close to the beach that we would just step out and have the beach all to ourselves. It was a house with 2 rooms, one kitchen, and a huge hall that all of us could fit into. The owner also was kind enough to get us a barbeque that we could use by the beach. They also had a maid who would come in the morning every day and clean the house as the house would be filled with sand and she would also tell us what places would be good to visit, they were all so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend all of you guys as well to try this place when you guy visit Udupi!

PLACES WE VISITED

SRI KRISHNA MATHA

The Krishna Matha is a very famous religious place in Udupi that was founded by Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th Century.

As we reached closer to this famous temple, we met with hordes of pilgrims who bowed their heads in devotion.

This temple is dedicated to Shri Krishna, and one unique charm of the temple is that- the idol is worshipped through an intricately carved window called the Navagraha Kindi. This place of worship I was completely engulfed by the spirituality that emanated off the walls of this temple and relished the sweet lip-smacking Prasadam that we were offered. The temple opens as early as 5:30 am.

KAUP LIGHT HOUSE

It is known for its breathtaking lighthouse that stands proudly at one side atop some rocky hills. I took it upon myself to climb the stairs that lead to the lighthouse in time to enjoy the sun setting. The lighthouse offers amazing views of the coastline, and I was just in time to join other revelers who gathered to watch the sun descend into the horizon. It was truly a sight to behold. The sun broke into a thousand shades of yellow and started its descent. The sand of the beach turned golden, and the seawater started glittering as the hues from the sun spread all over. The little boats with their sails up made up for the perfect addition to this beautiful phenomenon.

Everything about this was ethereal.

MALPE BEACH

Beaches are what I live for. I have always been a water baby, and everything about a beach attracts me instantly. May it be the mighty waves crashing, or the sand, or the millions of seashells scattered around, or maybe just the birds that fly around, everything captivates me.

As I entered Maple Beach, all I could think was how clean it was. There were food stalls everywhere, yet the beach was pristine- which is a very unlikely situation in India. I stepped into the clean sand and immediately helped me to the delicious seafood that these stalls were offering. After one bite itself, I was in love.

The beach has all kinds of water sports that one can dream of enjoying. This is a beach that is so perfect and offers everything that the heart desires. As I was walking through the beach, I suddenly spotted a little starfish lying there right near the water. It looked so beautiful and regal just lying there under the sun with the sea as its view. I too lay down like the starfish and enjoyed the unbelievable peace that overcame me.

ST MARYS ISLAND

This secluded island can only be reached through a boat ride- which makes it even more intriguing. The island is not inhabited at all and is only open to tourists. Just before our boat was parked at the shore, we were asked to give up all kinds of plastic bottles to make sure that the area is not littered.

As we jumped off the boat and into this magical island, we knew we were hopelessly in love. Everything from the water, to the hexagonal rocks to the white sandy beach was exactly perfect. It was like watching God’s finest work.

KODI BEACH

Kodi Bengre Beach or Delta beach lies in the small sleepy village of Kodi Bengre near Udipi. The beach is a beautiful secret and not a lot of people know about it. This means you can enjoy walking on the golden sand and jumping with the waves without a big crowd around you. Once you get here, you will be amazed by the natural beauty that surrounds you. The secluded state of the beach makes it a peaceful, serene, and quiet spot to spend an afternoon. This is one place we could be absolutely by ourselves and enjoy the afternoon as no one comes here it’s absolutely empty.

The group!

To end it all we had amazing food throughout the city and had an unforgettable time we would recommend everyone to take this trip at least once in a life time and its the most affordable place budget-wise as well…
